We could also say the month is about adjustment, flexibility, and adapting. The main focus in this rather ordinal month is to do what is in front of you and needs to be done in order to move on. Whether this is forgiving your emotional past, letting go of old dreams, trusting your vision for the future, weeding your yard, cleaning your fridge, adjusting to a new landscape, simplifying your life, or simply being in the flow of what is showing up (or not showing up), the task is to stay present and to be inspired by the simple daily accomplishments instead of being in resistance to the larger rather uninspired energy influencing the first part of the month.
This is a month that supports internal self-observation and reflection offering deep insights into who you are and what you are doing in your life. It is a time of preparation for breakthroughs and the potential for more dramatic change coming in the next few months. If you use this time wisely, you can align yourself with your own authentic self that is based on your own current truth rather than old patterns and outdated belief systems.
There are many other themes at work this month: adaptability, adjustment, acceptance, surrender, transformation, change, assimilation, deeper meaning, and others. Although we are definitely working all of these themes on a daily basis, given where we are and what we are dealing with in these times, “Creating the New” supports us to be more proactive and affective with the process instead of being at the effect of our personal and global situations.
In February, we looked at how we manage our time, resources and energy. Now it is time to make good on our intentions to set appropriate boundaries and have some serious discernment about where and with whom we spend our time, resources and energy. What is discernment? Discernment is the ability to use good judgment regarding choices, decisions, boundaries, actions, intentions, ideas, commitments, other people, your intuition, thoughts, emotions, and self-reflection.
We initiated the year with two eclipses stirring the pot of intensity creating numerous opportunities to crack open the potential for growth, expansion, new ideas, and intentions. The energy has been forward moving, barely allowing us to catch up with ourselves enough to sift through the bounty and put it all in order. The challenge now is that we have just a little too much on our plates and we can be confused and stressed about how to be up for the task, get it all done, and know where our priorities lie and what the next step is.
We have entered a new year and a new decade with new energies and a different signature than the cycles of the past. This one brings despair and hope at the same time and we have our work cut out for us, “work” being the operative word. Those not willing to work hard this year will certainly be in the camp of despair more than those that do. Even though most of the year will be more intellectual and less emotional, it is not a time for endless discussion and debate but more for action, choice and change. There is a ruthless quality to the month as we set ourselves up for the coming times requiring good boundaries, the courage to face the truth, and the discipline to DO IT NOW. If not now, when? Time is up for diddling around with “sort of” intentions and action plans.
Think of moving into the future as preparing for an adventure into a new landscape. This new landscape is mostly an inner one at first that will end up shifting and recreating the outer one as we out-picture our lives from a new perspective, set of values and creative inspirations. We are right up against a huge shift in consciousness that is waking up our instincts and motivation to unclutter ourselves and take only what we need to fulfil our dreams and desires into the future.
Following on the heels of October’s theme of “Rewriting the Story”, “Proactive Change” supports the action step important for any intention, desire, or dream. Although there is still plenty of emotional work to do this month, the focus is on how we can show up from a place of inner choice that is ours alone and free of outside influences, pressures and imprinting. If you don’t feel quite done with “rewriting your story” it is because you are still in process with it and this is the next chapter.
Do you love every aspect of your life? Do you love what is happening in the world, on our planet, with your friends and loved ones? Do you wake up every day and feel that everything is perfect and right and you would not have it any other way? If you answered yes, you are a rarity, as most of us have aspects of our lives that could be much improved and there are parts of our personal story and what we see happening in the world that we would give anything to change.
What is commitment? Commitment is making a choice to move ahead with a plan of action or intention without giving yourself a back door. Commitment is getting off the fence about something and making a decision that you then stick to. Commitment is finally taking that step of no return towards something you have only been dreaming of. Commitment requires eliminating the safety net of “I’ll do it if”, or “I’ll do it when”, and moving through the fear that holds you in the state of ambivalence, confusion and feeling stuck.
